A 'fake trial': Sean 'Diddy' Combs' lawyers make final arguments to jurors
Jury hears final arguments in the trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs for assault
The jury in the trial of American rapper and entrepreneur Sean "Diddy" Combs will hear final arguments today as the case reaches a crucial stage. Combs, 49, is charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and harassment following a confrontation with his trainer in Los Angeles last January. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Combs' attorney, Andre Balemian, claimed the defense had proved the charges were false and that the prosecution had failed to prove its case. "We have proved to you there is no injury, there is no assault, and that's it," he said.
The prosecutor argued that the defense case was "full of inconsistencies," and asked the jury to "hang your hat on the facts." He said: "People tell you the truth or they don't. People tell you lies or they do. You can't have it both ways."
The final arguments came after two weeks of evidence and witness testimony, including from Combs' former girlfriend, Kim Porter.
