All week across the BBC, we've been hearing about the urgent crisis of individuals in Gaza who are starving and struggling to access basic food supplies. Denied entry into the region, the BBC relies on trusted freelancers to share first-hand accounts of the situation on the ground.

As the week progresses, it has become increasingly apparent that the lack of food and resources in Gaza means that these vital freelancers are struggling to feed themselves and their families.

Blame and responsibility

The Israeli government, which controls the entry of all supplies into Gaza, has blamed Hamas for stealing food, refusing to take responsibility for the crisis. However, most international aid organizations point to Israel's failure to fulfill its role as the occupying power under international law, which carries the responsibility to protect the population and ensure they have access to necessary resources.
