British couple held by Taliban 'may die in prison,' son warns
Son of captive couple warns that they could die in Taliban prison
A British couple, who were holidaying in Afghanistan when the country fell to the Taliban in August last year, have been held in prison for eight months.
The pair, who are in their early 60s and from Sussex, were captured by the Taliban after trying to cross the border into Pakistan and have been in prison ever since.
Their son, who lives in London, has now warned that they could die in captivity as he called on the British government to step up efforts to release his parents.
He said that the situation is now ``critical'' and that his parents have been unable to take medication with them into the prison.
