British Spies and SAS Named in Afghan Data Breach
Intelligence Sources Identified
LONDON (Reuters) - Several British intelligence agents and members of the Special Air Service (SAS) have been named among those identified in a massive data leak that has wreaked havoc over the past year. The revelation is expected to prompt a reshuffle of Britain's intelligence apparatus, according to several analysts.
Impact on Security
The leak, which occurred in mid-2022, has already caused significant turbulence in Britain and Afghanistan. Many of the agents named in the leak have already been jettisoned from their positions in Afghanistan, and at least one has been targeted by the Taliban for assassination.
British Response
Britain's Foreign Office has not commented on the development, although sources indicate that countermeasures may be in the works.
