Eight injured in Colorado fire attack after suspect shouts 'free Palestine'

The suspect, who was quickly arrested, reportedly shouted "free Palestine" as he entered the premises, sparking fears of a hate crime.

Victims rushed to hospital

The suspect, who was not identified, was quickly taken into custody by Colorado Springs Police Department officers at the scene.

Of the eight victims, one suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The remaining seven suffered minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital for further assessment.

Police investigation

The police have yet to determine the motive for the attack and whether it was indeed a hate crime, but have stated that they are actively investigating the matter.

"The Colorado Springs Police Department is aware of the concerns and fears of the community and will continue to serve and protect all members of the community," said a department spokesperson.

Update: suspect arrested, victims hospitalised
