Footballers and family lay flowers at funeral of Diogo Jota and André Silva

Two young footballers honoured

Footballers Diogo Jota and André Silva were honoured at a joint funeral in Portugal on Saturday. The two, who died in a car crash on Thursday, were laid to rest alongside each other. Many of the players were seen carrying floral tributes into the church, including Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson, while hundreds of locals and supporters gathered at the Igreja Matriz in Gondomar, where the brothers are from.

Local community supportive

The entire community, not just the football community, has shown an outpouring of support and sympathy for the brothers. Local florist Susan Fernandes told us, "It's such a tragedy. They were two young men doing great things, and it's so sad to see them taken so young. But the whole community has come together to support their families during this difficult time."
