Ghanaian star Shatta Wale's luxury car surrendered over alleged link to US crime

According to police, the singer's car was confiscated after he failed to pay taxes on the luxury vehicle

The move has been condemned by some as an act of political targeting

The car was reportedly seized in connection with a US fraud case involving Charles Antwi, who was acquitted of charges in April this year. Shatta Wale, whose real name is Charles Nii Armah Mensah, is said to have bought the car for Antwi as a gift.

The Ghanaian star's lawyer argues that the seizure was unlawful.

The car was seized by the Ghana Police during a dawn raid at the singer's residence last Monday, with his lawyers describing the move as unconstitutional and unlawful. According to the Ghanaian star's legal team, the police had no authority to carry out the seizure as the court order they used had been cancelled.
