Hiroshima Ceremony Marks 80 Years of Atomic Bombing

A minute of silence was observed in Hiroshima on Wednesday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing of the Japanese city. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba attended the ceremony held in Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Park. During the ceremony, Ishiba called for nations to work towards nuclear disarmament.

Deaths & Impact

The atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed more than 200,000 people, including those who died immediately from burns and radiation sickness.
