Bobby Jenks, a former Chicago White Sox pitcher who helped the team win their first championship in 46 years, died on Monday. He was 44.

Jenks' career spanned from 2001 to 2009 and earned him a reputation as one of the most dominant closers of his generation. He was an All-Star in 2006 and 2007 and finished in the top 5 of his league's saves three times. Jenks famously recorded the last out of the 2005 World Series, securing the White Sox's victory over the Houston Astros.

The MLB released a statement on Jenks' death, expressing its condolences and highlighting his accomplishments on the field.
