Manhunt in Minnesota widens to nearby state
A search is underway in a neighboring state for a Minnesota lawmaker who allegedly attacked his estranged husband with a hatchet last week, leaving the victim seriously injured.
The suspect was identified
The suspect, aged 48, was arrested last year on domestic assault charges after an altercation at the home he shares with his husband. He posted $50,000 bail and was released, but now police say he fled after allegedly attacking his husband with a hatchet.
The victim's condition
The victim, who is in his early 30s, suffered multiple lacerations and skull fractures and was hospitalized in critical condition. He has since improved and is expected to survive, police said.
The investigation
Investigators have so far declined to discuss a possible motive for the attack, and wouldn't say whether the couple was residing together at the time.
The investigation is still ongoing.
