Moscow shrugs off Trump's irritation with Putin
President Trump's recent comments regarding Russian President Putin have received a cooler response than expected
Russian authorities have dismissed President Trump's harsh criticism of Russian President Putin, demonstrating a continuing deflection of Western criticism. Trump recently declared that Putin "has no soul" and accused him of compromising Ukraine's sovereignty. In response, the Russian Foreign Ministry addressed the U.S. administration, stating "we are accustomed to and will always remain accustomed to respecting the sovereignty of other countries."
This is not the first instance of Moscow downplaying or outright ignoring Trump's criticisms. Many of Trump's predecessors also attempted to isolate and sanction Russia, with similar results. As relations between the two nations continue to deteriorate, it's clear that there will be no breaking of the status quo any time soon.
