Governor Newsom Criticizes President Trump's Leadership
California Governor Gavin Newsom spoke out against President Trump's leadership, calling it deranged, as the president plans to send thousands of additional troops to Los Angeles.
Trump's Deployment Decision
This deployment comes in response to weeks of protests and civil unrest in LA. The exact number of troops being sent and their exact mission is not yet known, but ABC13 quoted a Defense official who suggested it could be close to 5,000 troops, possibly more.
Newsom's Comments
Speaking to ABC7, Newsom said:
I just want to make sure that everybody understands that this is not about politics, this is not about partisanship, this is not about blame, this is not about finger-pointing. But it is about doing the right thing at the right time for the right reasons.
Newsom criticized President Trump for "creating conditions for more violence" rather than solving the problem.
