Raducanu stalker tried to apply for Wimbledon tickets

A man accused of stalking British tennis player Emma Raducanu was arrested Wednesday after he attempted to enter the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to apply for tickets to watch her play at Wimbledon, according to reports.

The 19-year-old, who became the first British woman to win a Grand Slam title at the US Open last year, has struggled to deal with the extra attention since her breakthrough at Flushing Meadows and has spoken openly about the difficulties she has faced.

On Wednesday, the BBC reported that a man suspected of stalking Raducanu had spent the night camped outside the tennis venue before making his way inside on Wednesday morning. The man, who is believed to be in his mid-20s and from the Suffolk area, allegedly breached the security protocols in place for the Wimbledon qualifiers, which started on Tuesday.

The man was arrested on suspicion of stalking and trespassing, both of which are crimes, and remains in police custody.
