Sexcam Industry Recruits Schoolgirls, They Say

An investigation by the BBC has revealed that numerous young British girls, some as young as 15, have been recruited to work as sexual performers on adultwork sites. These girls have been coerced by both industry agents and individuals seeking underage sexual content, with many experiencing grooming, sexual assault, and exploitation.

"It's Easier to Get Clients for Younger Girls"

One 19-year-old former model, who spoke anonymously, recounted her experience. She had been recruited at 17 by an agency that promised a lucrative career in modeling. Instead, she was pushed into creating sexually explicit content, with the agency providing her with a camera, a bed, and a list of demands from clients. She alleges that many clients requested underage content, with some reaching out to her personally on social media platforms. The young woman struggled to leave the industry, as her profile and images remained on the websites, earning her no income. Many other girls find themselves in a similar situation, trapped in a cycle of exploitation and abuse.

Response from the Industry

In response to the investigation, an industry spokesperson stressed that all legitimate sites have strict age verification processes, requiring models to provide government-issued ID and proof of age, and that these sites work closely with law enforcement and industry groups to tackle underage activity. Despite these claims, the ease with which these young girls can be drawn into the industry and the pervasive nature of the problem suggest a need for more robust enforcement and legislation to protect vulnerable individuals from being exploited.
