Swedish terrorist sentenced over burning alive of Jordanian pilot

Jurid S. was convicted of terror-related murder and sentenced to life imprisonment in Malmö District Court.

The defendant, Jurid S., was also convicted of terrorism offenses and received a concurrent sentence of life imprisonment.

The defendant was arrested in November 2018 after a lengthy joint investigation by the Swedish and Jordanian police.

The crime

The attack took place in November 2017, when a Swedish citizen set fire to a car near a shopping center in the Swedish city of Malmö.

The car exploded, and the flames engulfed the vehicle, killing the passenger, a Jordanian national. The defendant was arrested and later admitted to having set the car on fire.

The verdict

The Malmö District Court found the defendant guilty of terror-related murder and sentenced him to life in prison. The court also found the defendant guilty of terrorism offenses and imposed a concurrent life sentence.

The defendant intends to appeal the conviction.
