Three Dead After Fire in Elderly Ward at Hamburg Hospital
A blaze at the Marienkrankenhaus in the north German city was reported to emergency services shortly after midnight, and authorities arrived at the scene within minutes.
The Blaze Was Extinguished
The fire itself was extinguished swiftly, yet not before three people died due to smoke inhalation. Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is believed to have started in a nursing ward.
No Further Injuries
Fortunately, the hospital's effective fire safety systems prevented the fire from spreading beyond the nursing ward. All other patients and staff members unaffected, and there were no further injuries reported.
