Two dead and many injured in Russian strike on Ukrainian shopping centre

A Russian missile attack on a shopping center in central Ukraine yesterday has killed two people and injured many more. The shopping center, located in the city of Kropyvnytskyi, was hit by a Tochka-U missile fired from a Russian bomber aircraft. Reports state that the mall was crowded with shoppers buying groceries and preparing for the Christmas holiday, which Ukrainians celebrate on January 7th. The missile strike resulted in a massive explosion that destroyed the central portion of the shopping center, killing many instantly and trapping others beneath the rubble. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized the attack as absolutely insane and barbaric. A Russian defense ministry spokesman claimed the mall was used as a gathering point for Ukrainian militiamen, and that the attack was intended to disrupt their activities. Many countries, including the United States, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, have condemned the attack.
