Watch: 'Houston, we've had a problem' says Jim Lovell

Jim Lovell, the astronaut at the heart of the Apollo 13 mission, has died aged 97.

Tens of millions watched on television as Lovell and two other astronauts splashed back down into the Pacific Ocean after aborting their moon landing mission.

The spacecraft had exploded hundreds of thousands of miles from Earth during the 1970 mission

"Houston, we've had a problem," Lovell said at the time to a stunned Mission Control. It was something of an understatement.
