Watch: Man drives car down Rome's Spanish Steps
A daring elderly driver took Rome's emergency services on a wild ride yesterday when he attempted to drive down the capital's Spanish Steps. The landmark, one of Italy's most recognisable monuments, was not designed for vehicular access, leading to a rather anticlimactic conclusion: the car got stuck halfway down the steps and had to be removed with a crane. The 81-year-old driver was not injured and reportedly tested negative for alcohol; he claimed he was on his way to work at the time. A bizarre incident indeed!
